Be a Montessorian Parent!

Be a Montessorian Parent
Parents are the only responsible contact who can nurture and choose the way of education for a child. Whatever parents decide today is going to have an impact on their child’s academic & social life throughout his childhood and future endeavours. Today, in our smart world it is difficult to choose the right method of education for a child. Montessorians United suggests choosing Dr. Maria Montessori’s methods of learning. Even Parents can learn to “be a Montessorian parent”. It will help them to understand their child and his learning environment. It is a profound, scientific and detailed companion to child psychology.

How can learning Montessori methods make a difference to a parent and their child’s life?

1.    By learning the ‘why’s’ and ‘how’s’, a parent can find the right path to understand child psychology.

2. The Dr. Maria Montessori Method is a constructive path for parenting.

3.  Parents will understand how they can be supportive in his daily life.

4.  Parents will feel involved in their child’s world.

5.  Montessori Methods teach, guide and change attitude towards young lives.

6.  Parents will know and develop certain ways to maintain just the right order at home.

7.  A Parent can understand the value of working independently and not to help them unnecessarily.

8. Since the child acquires his knowledge through senses (seeing, listening, touching and tasting), a simple nature walk help sometimes. Learn how?

9. Learn how a child will follow indirect learning and how the parents have to 'follow the child'.

10.Parents would understand why the ‘reward method’ and 'raising voice' does not work on a long term basis.

11.The most amazing fact is that Dr. Maria Montessori’s ways of child psychology are not only for preschool or elementary. They are forever.

Today in Ankur Montessori, Bangalore. Children are so excited because their teacher told that they have a story telling session planned for them. Our team member Rehmat entered in the Montessori house of children, every child is so inquisitive that what kind of story it will be?  When Rehmat started narrating her story to them. Children were engrossed so deeply that there was no time to gossip 😊.

Now it came to an end but this new story introduced so many new words in their vocabulary and correct pronunciation..........

How to understand child's behavior!

Start treating behavior as a symptom instead of simply as a problem

We focus on behavior too much in schools. It’s understandable. It’s observable, quantifiable, and impacts lives. But the inordinate attention, and attempts to manage it with rules and consequences not only often doesn’t help, but makes matters worse.

The whole mindset behind behavioral management is a set up. We can’t and never do manage others behaviors. The best we can do is manage our own in a way that encourages them to manage theirs. By believing we can and should control student behavior, we actually invite students to adopt mistaken goals like power and control and try to prove to us we can’t, often by cutting off their noses to spite their faces. To which we too often simply double down on our efforts to control them, and they double down on theirs to prove we can’t.

Behavior is the tip of the iceberg. 90% of an iceberg is below the surface. Likewise, there is so much going on beneath the surface in students’ minds. It’s their thoughts about themselves, others, life, what’s happened to them and is now that’s key. Thoughts cause feelings, attitude is always the father of behavior, and a person’s behavior will follow their emotions toward their life events.

Consequences do not address the thoughts and feelings that give rise to behavior. In fact, they often interplay with them in ways that exacerbate them instead, leading to a worsening of the behavior we didn’t like in the first place. If a student has the hot thought “You can do that to me” and we do things to him, he doesn’t acquiesce and think “I guess you can”. He doubles down on his original thought, gets angrier, and behaves even worse.

Behavior is a symptom. It’s a symptom of thoughts and feelings students need help with. We need to be like doctors who strive to identify the underlying causes of a patient’s symptoms, and address those. What would we think of a doctor who prescribed the same treatment for every patient, and simply prescribed more when it didn’t work?

This was a practical workshop with lots of creative ideas. As we all are aware that in Early childhood education building vocabulary and sentence formation is most important part of language. It was fun filled and full of activities for teachers to replicate the same for children in future.
